Village Meeple Code of Conduct

Here at Village Meeple Board Game Cafe, it is our top priority to make sure all gamers feel welcome — regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, or physical ability. We believe an inclusive and diverse environment is essential in building a strong gaming community with core values that shape a brighter future, both in and out of the game shop.

As an attendee of Village Meeple, we’ve outlined our Community Guidelines. These guidelines apply to all Village Meeple events, in-person and online.

💬 OUR COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

We expect all patrons and participants to:

1. Be Kind and Respectful.
Treat others with respect, patience, and good sportsmanship. We play to have fun together. Intent does not excuse impact. “Jokes” that demean others will not be tolerated.

2. Use Inclusive Language.
Avoid racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise exclusionary or demeaning language.

3. Respect Personal Space and Boundaries.
Do not touch others or their belongings without consent. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

4. Play Fair.
Respect the rules of the game and the spirit of fair play. No cheating, intimidation, or unsportsmanlike behavior.

5. Keep it Friendly.
It’s okay to disagree—but do so respectfully. Don't shout, swear at others, or create a hostile atmosphere.

6. Be a Good Guest.
Respect the space, staff, and our games. Clean up your area, return games in good condition, and follow posted house rules.

⚠️ STRIKE SYSTEM:
CLEAR STEPS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY

To ensure everyone’s safety and comfort, we use a Three-Strike System for violations of this Code of Conduct. To report an issue, please speak with a Staff Member or Event Coordinator or email us at info@villagemeeple.com. Reports can be made anonymously.

  • Strike One – A Friendly Reminder
You’ll receive a private verbal or written reminder about our Code of Conduct from a Staff Member or Event Organizer (Gamer Guide, Dungeon Master). This is a chance to reflect and adjust.

  • Strike Two – A Formal Warning
Continued or more serious issues, such as persistent boundary violations, repeated use of slurs, or disruptive behavior, will result in a formal warning from the Gamer Guide, Dungeon Master, or a Staff Member. Strike Two also will involve the Owner or Manager of Village Meeple. You may be asked to take a break from events for the day.

  • Strike Three – Removal from Groups and Events
If the behavior persists, or if there is a severe violation, you may be removed from all Village Meeple events, groups, and clubs indefinitely.

In rare cases, long-term bans may be reviewed upon request. We believe in growth, accountability, and community healing.

🚨 ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

Some actions result in immediate removal and a permanent ban, including but not limited to:

  • Physical violence or threats

  • Harassment, stalking, or hate speech

  • Theft or property damage

  • Repeated disregard for community safety

We hope that we can serve the community as an inclusive, safe space, and welcome any feedback that will help us achieve this goal. Thank you for helping us make Village Meeple a cozy, kind, and safe place to play!
