Come Play “Blood on the Clocktower”
Join Guest Gamer Guide Matt as he takes you through the thrilling social deduction game Blood on the Clocktower!
In the quiet village of Ravenswood Bluff, a demon walks amongst you...
During a hellish thunderstorm, on the stroke of midnight, there echoes a bone-chilling scream. The townsfolk rush to investigate and find the town storyteller murdered, their body impaled on the hands of the clocktower, blood dripping onto the cobblestones below. A Demon is on the loose, murdering by night and disguised in human form by day. Some have scraps of information. Others have abilities that fight the evil or protect the innocent. But the Demon and its evil minions are spreading lies to confuse and breed suspicion. Will the good townsfolk put the puzzle together in time to execute the true demon and save themselves? Or will evil overrun this once peaceful village?
Blood on the Clocktower is a bluffing game enjoyed by 5 to 20 players on opposing teams of Good and Evil, overseen by a Storyteller player who conducts the action and makes crucial decisions. The goal of the game is to successfully deduce and execute the demons before they outnumber the townfolk.
During a 'day' phase players socialize openly and whisper privately to trade knowledge or spread lies, culminating in a player's execution if a majority suspects them of being Evil. Of a 'night' time, players close their eyes and are woken one at a time by the Storyteller to gather information, spread mischief, or kill.
The Storyteller uses the game's intricate playing pieces to guide each game, leaving others free to play without a table or board. Players stay in the thick of the action to the very end even if their characters are killed, haunting Ravenswood Bluff as ghosts trying to win from beyond the grave.
If you arrive late to a game, you can enter after it's started as a powerful Traveller character with unusual talents and questionable allegiances. Each character comes with their own special ability and no two players in a game are ever the same character.
Blood on the Clocktower is free with your paid admission.

The Game
Howdy, partners! In the sun-baked dust of Dusty Gulch, where shadows stretch long and strange, disagreements find resolution not with a six-shooter, but in the Rowdy Ring. Here, common sense yields to the thrill of a wrestling match, proving that in this corner of the Wild West, might makes right — one suplex at a time.
Rowdy Partners is a team trick-taking game played over a series of rounds, with each round being composed of eight tricks. Work with your partner to beat the other players by draining their health through calculated strikes and sneaky counters. Swap wrestlers mid-match, unleash signature moves, and collect Pop to gain the upper hand. The team that first pins one of their opponents wins!

Board Game Curation
Village Meeple will bring three games to emphasize the theme of the night. This month’s games include:
No Thanks
The rules are simple. Each turn, players have two options:
play one of their chips to avoid picking up the current face-up card
pick up the face-up card (along with any chips that have already been played on that card) and turn over the next card
However, the choices aren't so easy as players compete to have the lowest score at the end of the game. The deck of cards is numbered from 3 to 35, with each card counting for a number of points equal to its face value. Runs of two or more cards only count as the lowest value in the run - but nine cards are removed from the deck before starting, so be careful looking for connectors. Each chip is worth -1 point, but they can be even more valuable by allowing you to avoid drawing that unwanted card.
Flip 7
Flip over cards one by one without flipping the same number twice.
Sound easy? Think again! This isn't just any deck of cards… In Flip 7 there's only one 1 card, two 2's, three 3’s, etc plus a bunch of special cards that can score you extra points, give you a second chance, or freeze you or your opponents in your tracks.
Are you the type of player to play it safe and bank points before you bust, or are you going to risk it all and go for the bonus points by flipping over seven in a row? Press your luck meets strategy in this addictive card game that's sure to be the greatest card game you’ve ever played!
King of Tokyo
In King of Tokyo, you play mutant monsters, gigantic robots, and strange aliens—all of whom are destroying Tokyo and whacking each other in order to become the one and only King of Tokyo.
At the start of each turn, you roll six dice, which show the following six symbols: 1, 2, or 3 Victory Points, Energy, Heal, and Attack. Over three successive throws, choose whether to keep or discard each die in order to win victory points, gain energy, restore health, or attack other players into understanding that Tokyo is YOUR territory.
The fiercest player will occupy Tokyo, and earn extra victory points, but that player can't heal and must face all the other monsters alone!
Top this off with special cards purchased with energy that have a permanent or temporary effect, such as the growing of a second head which grants you an additional die, body armor, nova death ray, and more.... and it's one of the most explosive games of the year!
In order to win the game, one must either destroy Tokyo by accumulating 20 victory points, or be the only surviving monster once the fighting has ended.
Games will be available for purchase.
Book Curation
Story House Bookstore will be curating a list of books that go along with the theme. You will be able to continue to learn more about this fascinating topic even after you head home. The books will be available for purchase.

The Game
What is the secret of this kingdom, where peace has reigned for thousands of years? Every spring, aspiring rulers recruit four allies and face off in unusual duels. No armies, no blood: the first to capture their rival wins. Your time has come. Tactical thinking, daring, and strategy will distinguish the true Leaders!
Create a team of unique Champions in order to defeat the opposing Leader! To win, either position two of your champions next to your opponent’s Leader to capture them, or skillfully maneuver so the opponent’s Leader is surrounded, leaving no adjacent empty spaces.
Sensory Friendly Hours

Enjoy some time to yourself, or bring a friend or two for some chill play time.

The Playful Mind Society: Trust vs Control -- A collaborative event with Story House Bookstore
Through games, books, and shared discussion, we’ll experience — not just debate — how trust and control influence our choices and our communities.
Join us at Story House Bookstore, located at 1150 E Walnut St, Springfield, MO 65806, on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 6:30-8:30 pm for The Playful Mind Society. Each evening, we explore core human behaviors by pairing an expert speaker and game mechanics, which are designed to surface these behaviors experientially.
In February’s meeting, we will discuss Trust vs. Control.
Guest Lecturer/Moderator
Your game night moderator is Professor Michael Lane Bruner, an internationally-renowned expert in persuasion and human character (ethos). This month’s theme, Trust vs. Control, is something teachers of persuasion have studied for more than 2,000 years. When does ethical persuasion turn into selfish manipulation? When must one lie to survive, or build trust with one’s enemies? Let’s find out!
Board Game Curation
Village Meeple will bring three games to emphasize the theme of the night. This month’s games include:
Secret Hitler - Up to 10 players, 30 minutes: Secret Hitler is one of our favorite social deduction games. Players are given a hidden role on the team as a Fascist or Liberal. One of the Fascists is also Hitler. Players must work with their teammates (even though they rarely know who they are) to pass enough agendas to win the day! It is so interesting to me how people navigate a simple game that is fraught with lies. It takes in all your history, all of your bias, and makes you trust your gut.
Uk'otoa - 3 to 5 players, 30-45 minutes: In Uk'otoa, we are sailors on a ship that is being attacked by the monster Uk'otoa. The ship is going down, and no one gets out alive. The goal is to be the last one standing. Uk'otoa is a semi-cooperative game. You have two people on your team, but they also are sharing a team with someone else that's not you, so they aren't completely loyal to you at any point. Semi-cooperative games bring in a different style of play and trust.
A Fake Artist Goes to NY - 5 to 10 players, 10-20 minutes: In A Fake Artist Goes to New York, one player chooses a word and writes that word on each small marker board and hands it out to the other players. Well... all except one player. That player's marker board just has an X on it, so they don't know the word at all. Players work together to draw a picture of the chosen word, while not making it too easy for the Fake Artist to figure out and blend in. After two rounds, players guess who they think the Fake Artist was.
Games will be available for purchase.
Book Curation
Story House Bookstore will be curating a list of books that go along with the theme. You will be able to continue to learn more about this fascinating topic even after you head home. The books will be available for purchase.

WE TEACH WEDNESDAY: PONDSCAPE
Come join Gamer Guide Jess as she demos PONDSCAPE!
Our We Teach Wednesdays are a great chance to learn a new game without the pesky rule book reading. It’s also a great opportunity to meet new people or add to your gamer group.
If you participate in the We Teach event, you also can purchase the game at our shop for a 20% discount!
The Game
Pondscape is a strategic card game for 2-4 players, lasting around 30 minutes. In this game, players create their own vibrant pond by carefully placing cards featuring various frog species and pond environments while collecting different insect types.
The core mechanisms involve grid building and card management, with pond construction as a spatial puzzle. In each round, players choose cards from a shared display and add one card to their pond, aiming to fulfill specific conditions set by different frog species to earn points, with larger groups of the same frog type yielding even greater rewards.
A unique shared mechanism revolves around the "jumper frog", a central figure that hunts insects and other food. All players influence the jumper frog's actions and compete to gather insects that can provide bonus points during the final scoring. Careful planning and resourceful play will lead to the most balanced and flourishing pond!
